Bio-Link National Fellows Program: AgrowKnowledge Track

Saturday, June 3 2006 – Thursday, June 8, 2006
University of California, Berkeley – Berkeley, CA

Welcome letter from Elaine A. Johnson, Ph.D. Bio-Link Director

Description
Every year Bio-Link, a sister NSF-ATE Center of Excellence to AgrowKnowledge, hosts a Fellows Program. This year AgrowKnowledge is cooperating with Bio-Link to bring a specific agricultural track to the program. Specific applications of biotechnology in agriculture such as biopharmaceuticals, biofuels, and bioinfomatics will be covered. You will hear from industry, leading experts, and have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities. Since agriculture is one of several tracks that will be available, participants will be able to participate and see other applications of biotechnology in addition to agriculture. For complete program information visit the Bio-Link website at www.bio-link.org

Registration
Since this is a Bio-Link Fellows Program, Bio-Link will be handling the program and logistics. However, for AgrowKnowledge participants wanting to attend, registration will be similar to our other workshops. The registration fee of $150 will allow you to attend the Fellows Program as a full participant, receive lodging and meals, and be eligible for a travel reimbursement of up to $300.

Individuals from AgrowKnowledge wanting to attend this workshop must register for the Bio-Link Fellows Program on the AgrowKnowledge website.

Note: Only 15 seats are available for AgrowKnowledge participants. So register early.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn about specific applications of biotechnology to agriculture
• Practice hands-on applications of biotechnology for the classroom
• Hear about the future of biotechnology from industry leaders
• Observe a biotechnology laboratory
• Learn of resources available through Bio-Link
